Valley Farms This painting, by Ross Dickenson, is titled Valley Farms and was created in 1934. This art piece, which was originally painted on oil canvass, is housed at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Ross Dickenson is painting a picture of his native Southern California during the depression and the Dust Bowl era. You can see the harsh dry mountains with impending fire in the background that threaten the lush farms at the base.
